Hello from Minnesota's Future Doctors

The mission of Minnesota's Future Doctors is to prepare college-age Minnesotans from underrepresented communities for admission to medical school.

Selected scholars typically start the program as freshman in college and remain with the program until the start of medical school.

   As a Minnesota’s Future Doctor:

• You'll get to know real-life doctors and other professionals, as well as interns and current medical students.  

• You'll work side by side with real doctors as they meet with patients, diagnose problems, and discuss patient concerns and treatment options.  

And...

• You’ll explore how hospitals and clinics really work from the inside out. 

• You'll tour world class medical institutions, learn to use cutting edge high-tech medical equipment, and start to better understand the complex working relationships between professionals, patients, institutions, communities, and clinical environments .  

• Through your experiences in a variety of clinical environments, you’ll not only start to think like a doctor, you’ll look like a doctor.

And...

• You’ll better understand how to get into medical school, including MCAT (test for med school), AMCAS (application to med school), and med school pre-requisites. 

• You'll have many opportunities to talk directly to current medical students and hear how they made it into medical school.   

• You’ll work on practical strategies for preparing for the MCAT, as well as work with your team to craft a highly competitive AMCAS.

And...

• You’ll also have a lot of fun meeting a whole new network of friends, and participating in various service learning and volunteering projects!
